Tacredo for Governor

I strongly encourage a vote for Tom Tancredo for Governor of Colorado

I have never advocated for a vote for anyone other than the GOP candidate, so this is hard for me. My candidate has lost the primary before; heck, it happens a lot. However, I always bounce back and support the GOP nominee because the GOP nominee is always better than the Democrat opponent. I even supported and voted for McCain, although, you can make a credible case, depending on what happens in the next few years that Obama was the best thing that ever happened to the US because he finally jarred the conservative nature of the average American.

This time it’s different. I’m voting for Tancredo.

The State of Colorado faces some really serious challenges. We have built up spending expectations that exceed realistic revenue projections. We will be forced to make some hard choices about spending (or take the Liberal approach and increase tax collections) and only Tom Tancredo has a history of standing his ground in the face of strong, and sometimes shrill, opposition. He stood up to President Bush on illegal immigration and he didn’t flinch when the Denver Post mischaracterized his positions. We are going to have to have a leader with that kind of spine if we are going to remain a low tax, high freedom state. We also have a very serious problem of being a partner with a broke federal government; this will lead to more spending problems soon.

I can’t say that I agree with him on every issue or that I prioritize the same way he does. I don’t really think that matters too much as so much of what the Governor has to deal with are problems that crop up (like spending) instead of the things he or she wants to prioritize. This is especially true in challenging times like these. The problems of the day will dictate the agenda and the problem is the economy. Tanc will, without question, apply conservative solutions to solve our problem and that will yield the best possible outcome.

I’m positive John Hickenlooper will govern as a liberal giving us four more years of the same failed policies that we got from Bill Ritter. Yes, Hick ran his businesses as a conservative, but look at how he’s worked in the Mayor’s office; increasing taxes every time there was a shortfall, until he decided to run for Governor. He supports uber liberal causes with his charity, too, and that surely reveals where his heart is.

Dan Maes has proven himself to be both incompetent and a fraud. I also suspect that he’s been illegally converting campaign funds into personal use. No conscientious conservative can support him. Please do not vote for him.

For the Maes supporters who are furious with me, I am sorry. I have earned a reputation of calling them like I see them and I need to in this case.

I think that when the book is written on this election cycle in Colorado, Tom Tancredo will be seen to be the selfless hero that he really is. He really didn’t want to run for Governor. If he had wanted to, he would have announced in November of 2009. I don’t think he wanted to run in July of this year, but he knew that both McInnis and Maes were destined to fail, so he got in to force them out. He risked his reputation and money in the interests of the cause of conservatism and the State. Republicans were furious with him in July; I couldn’t see then how this could end well, but I believed even then that he was doing what he thought was right.

I do think now that he has truly taken to the idea of being Governor and I think he will end up being one of our best.

Vote for Tancredo and watch him. He’ll make the tough choices and do what really has to be done to put our state back on a path to a bright future.
